Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) argues social media has shattered the mystique that once made fans faint at the sight of artistes. In a Lun Lifestyle TV interview, the former P-Square member claimed overexposure on platforms like TikTok—where artistes dance, promote music, and share daily life—has eliminated the "godlike" aura that drove fan frenzy.

"Music videos now are a waste of money," he said. "Before, you didn't see us anywhere except videos or shows. Now fans watch you eat, cry, club on Instagram daily. If Michael Jackson posted TikToks, nobody would faint seeing him."

Okoye describes this as "see-finish"—a Nigerian term for familiarity breeding contempt. He notes artistes once stayed in restricted VIP areas; now every club outing gets filmed. The result: diminished buzz, devalued music video investments, and a generation that treats stars as content creators rather than distant icons.

The shift reflects a broader industry tension: algorithms demand daily content, but mystery—once a core asset—cannot coexist with constant visibility. For emerging artistes, the question becomes whether strategic scarcity still builds more lasting value than algorithmic omnipresence.

Can an artiste maintain cultural weight while feeding the content machine daily, or has the economics of attention made mystery an unaffordable luxury?
