Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, says transitioning to a solo artist after P-Square's split was less stressful because he was already the group's songwriter, producer, and singer. Speaking to Lun Lifestyle TV today, he explained that his creative process hasn't changed — he still handles the same roles but now with full control and no internal pushback.

P-Square has broken up twice: first in 2017 amid tensions from 2016, and again in 2024 after a 2021 reunion. Rudeboy's claim that he carried the creative weight adds context to why the duo struggled to stay together. "Nobody is going to question me. I have more creative control. It is easy for me," he said.

The revelation reframes P-Square's history — if one member drove the songwriting and production, the group's friction may have been structural, not just personal. For Nigerian music fans, it raises questions about how many hit groups operate with uncredited creative imbalances.

Does creative control matter more than group chemistry for longevity in Afrobeats, or was P-Square's magic in the partnership itself?
