Russia, Iran discuss US-Israel strikes amid Middle East tensions

Russia and Iran held a telephone conversation on Tuesday as Middle East tensions escalate following US-Israel military actions. Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Abbas Araghchi agreed the strikes undermine international law and carry regional consequences. Lavrov reiterated Moscow's opposition to the attacks at the UN Security Council and called for civilian protection. Russia is mediating between Iran and Arab states after Putin's Monday talks with regional leaders. Iran's missile and drone attacks have affected Gulf States, including a drone strike on the US Consulate in Dubai and attacks on Saudi Arabia's Riyadh embassy. Israel continues targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, issuing evacuation orders for 16 southern towns.
