Sam Amadi says Obi supporters will be Nigeria's most reliable voters in 2027
Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, said on X that Peter Obi’s supporters will be the most reliable voters in the 2027 general election. He noted that while the Obidient movement, the OK movement and the NDC may be in crisis, most Obi voters are not in crisis and will turn out reliably. Amadi added that, aside from the ruling APC, there is no truly organized political party in Nigeria; the APC remains relatively stable because it holds power and can dispense patronage, though it too faces a serious crisis as the election approaches. He described Nigeria as facing a massive, long‑standing crisis and urged the need for a strong political movement beyond the current parties to save the country, expressing hope that real work can begin after 2027.
For voters, this suggests that loyalty to individual candidates may outweigh party allegiance in the upcoming election, and political actors may need to build broader movements beyond existing party structures to gain traction.
