Sani blasts PDP faction for belated Jonathan 2027 bid
Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has sharply criticized a PDP faction for adopting former President Goodluck Jonathan as their 2027 presidential candidate. In a Monday X post, Sani called the move 'belated,' noting they should have supported Jonathan in 2023 when the party was stronger. 'If they actually wanted Jonathan, they should have fielded him in 2023 when the party was relatively alive and in good shape. They just now want him to help them carry the coffin,' he stated. Sani suggested the current bid is less about giving Jonathan a realistic chance to return to power and more about using his political stature to revive a weakened platform. The criticism comes as Nigeria's political parties begin positioning for the 2027 general election, with the PDP currently facing challenges in presenting a unified front.
