Saraki Urges PDP Factions to Accept Court Ruling to Avoid Election Delays
Former Senate President Abubakar Saraki has called on PDP factions to accept the Court of Appeal's ruling upholding the Federal High Court's decision to restrain the party from holding its national convention. The appellate court dismissed the appeal by the Turaki-led faction, which claims leadership after last year's Ibadan convention. Saraki warned that continued litigation could jeopardize the PDP's 2027 election preparations, stating there's no time to wait for a Supreme Court decision due to INEC's timetable. He emphasized the party's priority should be providing a platform for candidates rather than personal egos, urging leaders to adopt a 'give-and-take attitude' for an all-inclusive convention. 'The only viable option is dialogue and consensus-building,' Saraki stated, cautioning that litigation could stall preparations. 'Let the sleeping dog lie peacefully,' he concluded.
