Satgana Raises $570M Climate Tech Funds for Africa and Europe
Venture capital firm Satgana is raising two new funds, each investing $570,000 in climate tech startups across Africa and Europe. The firm, named after the Sanskrit word for 'good company,' has deployed capital into 30 startups since launching in 2020, focusing on solutions where climate efficiency drives the business model. 'We are currently structuring two dedicated vehicles, one focused on Europe and one on Africa,' said partner Anil Maguru. 'We are not communicating final fund sizes publicly yet, as the process is still ongoing.' Satgana's portfolio includes Orbio Earth (Germany, methane tracking), Mazi Mobility (Kenya, electric boda boda bikes), and Revivo (Kenya, circular repair economy). The strategy prioritizes companies that work under imperfect conditions, with impact designed into the business model from day one. 'African markets act as a strong filter that forces companies to build for resilience and real demand,' Maguru explained. 'Europe provides industrial partners, capital depth, and exit routes.' Satgana seeks founders with disciplined mindsets and expects 90% portfolio survival rate with 50% follow-on funding. The firm is now raising funds to scale impact, targeting companies with paying customers and real traction.
