Sinner reaches Monte Carlo final, makes tennis history
World No.2 Jannik Sinner eased into Monte Carlo Masters final with clinical 6-1, 6-4 win over Alexander Zverev on Saturday. The 24-year-old Italian made history as first player to reach finals of season's first three Masters 1000 events since Novak Djokovic in 2015. Joining elite company alongside Roger Federer (2006) and Rafael Nadal (2011) as only players to achieve this feat. Sinner dominated from the start, breaking Zverev three times in the opening set before wrapping up victory in 1 hour 22 minutes. The Italian has now lost only one set in his last 21 matches at Masters 1000 events. He will face either world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz or local player Valentin Vacherot in Sunday's final. If Sinner meets Alcaraz, it would be the first clash between the world's top two players this season, with the winner set to claim the world No.1 ranking when new ATP rankings are released Monday. Sinner's dominance continues his impressive run, having also won the Miami Open recently.
