Arsenal host Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Sunday with six key players ruled out due to injury. Arsenal’s Bruno Guimaraes and Cristhian Mosquera missed Thursday training, adding to the absences of William Saliba and Jurrien Timber, who remain unavailable. Chelsea will also travel without Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra.

Guimaraes, who played only 20 minutes against Aston Villa after a groin issue earlier in the summer, may be aggravating the same problem. Mosquera left the Villa match injured and has not returned. Saliba and Timber have been out since earlier injuries; Timber has only resumed light training. For Chelsea, Caicedo came off the bench versus Brighton but lasted just 11 minutes before a knee issue forced him off, keeping him out of recent wins over Fulham and Luton. Palestra, signed from Atalanta this summer, has yet to make a matchday squad.

The absences affect both teams’ midfield and defensive options ahead of a high‑stakes London derby. Arsenal will rely on alternative midfielders, while Chelsea must adjust their lineup without their summer signings.

Will Arsenal’s makeshift midfield cope with Chelsea’s pressure, or will Chelsea’s depleted defense struggle against Arsenal’s attack?
