South Africa launches free AI skills program for women youth amid rising automation threat
South Africa's Womandla Foundation, in partnership with IBM SkillsBuild and the International Association of Volunteer Effort, launched Phase Two of the Reskilling Revolution Africa initiative targeting women and young people. The program aims to combat South Africa's 59% youth unemployment rate by providing free AI, cybersecurity and entrepreneurship training through IBM's digital platform, with mentorship and job placement support.
