Sowore Emerge AAC Presidential Candidate For 2027 Election
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore emerged as African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate during primaries in Abuja on Tuesday (May 26, 2026). This marks his third consecutive presidential election under AAC, the party he founded. Sowore stepped down as National Chairman, with Samuel Ajeigbe appointed as replacement.
AAC describes itself as Nigeria's only registered socialist party and 'the only genuine opposition' to current political parties. Sowore claimed the party offers 'revolutionary change' and is 'not afraid of anybody.'
The event showcases AAC's growing structure, with delegates participating from across the country. As 2027 elections approach, this positions AAC as a significant opposition voice challenging the status quo.
With Sowore as candidate, will AAC gain more traction among voters seeking alternatives to major parties, or remain a symbolic opposition force?
