Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress presidential candidate, has pledged a N500,000 monthly minimum wage, 24-hour electricity, free education at all levels, construction of one million public mixed-income homes, and reform of tenancy laws to ease advance rent burdens. He made these promises in an interview with The Independent while outlining the AAC’s agenda for the 2027 elections.

These commitments target long‑standing grievances: low wages that leave many workers in poverty, unreliable electricity that forces reliance on generators, costly education that excludes poor children, and housing shortages that drive up rents. If realized, they could reshape Nigeria’s socio‑economic landscape, but their realization hinges on Sowore winning the 2027 presidency and his administration’s ability to fund and implement such sweeping reforms.

Given Nigeria’s limited fiscal space and history of unmet campaign pledges, do you view Sowore’s promises as a credible roadmap for change or as optimistic rhetoric that voters should scrutinize closely?
