Spain coach Luis de la Fuente named his 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup on Monday, featuring 18-year-old Lamine Yamal as the standout player. The Barcelona winger, who starred in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph, is one of eight Barca players included but faces a race against time to recover from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him since late April.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino earns a recall after recovering from a foot fracture that kept him out since January. In a historic move, no Real Madrid players were selected for the first time in Spain's World Cup history, with Dani Carvajal and Dean Huijsen both omitted.

Spain opens their Group H campaign on June 15 against Cape Verde, before facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. Coach De la Fuente expects all players to be fit for the first or second matches after coordinating with club medical departments.
