The Supreme Court will Tuesday hear appeal by David Mark, embattled ADC National Chairman, seeking to stay execution of March 12 Court of Appeal judgment. Mark filed motion SC/CV/180/2026, praying apex court to restrain INEC from recognizing any ADC leadership other than his pending appeal hearing.

The hearing coincides with Federal High Court case where former ADC deputy chairman Nafiu-Bala Gombe sued to stop Mark-Aregbesola leadership. INEC removed Mark and Aregbesola from its official portal following Appeal Court ruling.

Mark argues Appeal Court judgment being enforced, rendering his appeal nugatory. He seeks orders preserving current ADC leadership structure and staying lower court proceedings. The case involves fundamental questions about party internal democracy and electoral processes.

With major political parties restructuring ahead of 2027 elections, how will this precedent affect internal dispute resolution across Nigeria's political landscape?
