Tambuwal denies VP pact with Wike for 2019 presidential bid

Sokoto South Senator Aminu Tambuwal has denied any agreement with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to make him vice presidential candidate during the 2019 PDP primaries. Speaking on Arise Television Monday evening, Tambuwal said Wike never demanded the VP position despite being his main backer. "Wike was my partner at the time... we didn't have any pact of him being my running mate," Tambuwal stated. He clarified that Wike never gave conditions for his support, saying the minister identified him as someone young and capable of doing the job. Tambuwal maintained he was fair to Wike, noting the minister never requested to be Vice President. The senator emphasized that Wike's support was based on believing in his class rather than opportunism.
