Tanzania coach names Nigeria strongest AFCON team

Tanzania coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi says Nigeria's Super Eagles are the strongest team at the 2025 AFCON. Nigeria has dominated the tournament, scoring 14 goals—more than any other side—while keeping clean sheets in every knockout game. The Super Eagles beat Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in the group stage, then knocked out Mozambique and Algeria to reach the semifinals against Morocco.

Gamondi praised Nigeria's balance, consistency, and attacking power. 'It's obvious that the semi-finals include the four best teams, but Nigeria is strongest because they score a lot and concede few,' he told Egyptian broadcaster On Sport. He noted that at this stage, small details and individual player quality decide matches.

A win over Morocco would send Nigeria to their second consecutive AFCON final. The Argentine coach also highlighted that all four semifinalists—Nigeria, Morocco, South Africa, and Egypt—earned their spots and each has a chance to win.
