Tanzania coach names Super Eagles strongest team at 2025 AFCON

Tanzania's Argentine coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi has declared Nigeria's Super Eagles as the strongest team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles beat Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in group stage, then defeated Mozambique and Algeria to reach semifinals. They've scored 14 goals—more than any other team—and kept clean sheets in every knockout match. Gamondi praised Nigeria's mix of players, steady performance, and strong attacking skills. Speaking to Egyptian broadcaster On Sport, he said, "It's obvious that the semi-finals include the four best teams... Right now, I think Nigeria is the strongest team because they usually score a lot of goals and let in few goals." A win against Morocco in the semifinal would send Nigeria to their second consecutive AFCON final.
