Three PDP Senators Defect to APC, Senate Shifts Balance

Three PDP senators defected to APC on Tuesday, citing internal crises in their states. Senator Amos Yohanna (Adamawa North), Aminu Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central), and Ikra Aliyu Bilbis (Zamfara Central) joined the ruling party, raising APC's Senate count to 83. PDP now has 19 seats. Senate President Godswill Akpabio called the shift a sign of progress, noting the reversal from 2023's 34 APC defections. He credited President Tinubu's economic reforms, including FX harmonisation and fuel subsidy removal, for reducing state borrowing needs and fostering growth.
