Former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of being synonymous with fraud, citing controversies over the 2026 federal budget. He pointed to alleged inflated allocations, including a N12.8 trillion Service Wide Vote, N8 billion earmarked for churches and mosques, and N1.3 billion reportedly set aside for a fake ‘Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.’ Frank said these recurring controversies have eroded public confidence and created an atmosphere where corrupt officials believe they can misuse funds without consequence.

The allegations come amid earlier criticisms from opposition figures, notably ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who flagged the same budget items as questionable. Frank warned that rather than strengthening accountability, the government appears to be shielding those implicated in financial misconduct, deepening perceptions of troubling governance.

This controversy adds to growing concerns over transparency in Nigeria’s public finances, especially as citizens grapple with economic pressures. Will you demand clearer explanations and accountability from your elected officials, or accept the current narrative of unchecked spending?
