Timi Frank alleges Russian doctor examined El-Rufai without family consent
Former APC deputy spokesperson Timi Frank has raised alarm over former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai's health and safety in DSS custody. According to Frank, a Russian doctor examined El-Rufai yesterday at 9:45pm without the family's consent. Frank claims El-Rufai initially refused but was reportedly compelled to undergo the examination. He questioned why a foreign doctor would be brought at that time of night and called on the Nigerian Bar Association, religious leaders, northern elders, traditional rulers, youths, civil society organizations, and the international community to demand El-Rufai's immediate release. El-Rufai, who was granted N100 million bail over alleged national security breach, was taken back into DSS custody pending fulfillment of bail conditions. His family had earlier raised concerns about his continued detention.
This situation raises questions about medical care and treatment of high-profile detainees in Nigerian custody.
