Tinubu Appoints Yuguda as CBN Deputy Governor
President Bola Tinubu has approved Lamido Yuguda as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), pending Senate confirmation. This follows the recent appointment of Bala Bello as Special Adviser to the President on Political Economy. Yuguda, a CBN veteran with 32 years of service, previously served as CBN Director of Reserve Management (2010-2016) and Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (2020-2024). He holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy from Ahmadu Bello University (1983) and an M.Sc. in Money, Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham (1991). A Fellow of ICAN and CFA charterholder, he began his career at CBN in 1984. The Senate confirmation process is expected to conclude within 30 days.
