Tinubu arrives UAE for sustainability summit

President Bola Tinubu arrived in the United Arab Emirates late Monday, about 11pm local time, ahead of the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week summit. He was received by the UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs at the airport. According to his Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is attending at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The annual summit brings together government and business leaders to discuss sustainable development. This year's theme is "The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go." Tinubu had been on an end-of-year break in Europe since December 28, and was seen in France last week meeting Rwanda's president. He is expected back in Nigeria after the week-long summit ends. Will this trip translate to concrete partnerships for Nigeria's renewable energy sector, or is it just another international appearance?
