Tinubu Extends NSCDC Chief's Tenure for Five Years
President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi as Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for another five years. The extension, effective February 27, 2026, follows the conclusion of his initial five-year term appointed under former President Buhari in 2021. Tinubu charged Audi to reposition the NSCDC to address Nigeria's security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, as the police focus on citizen protection. Audi, born September 30, 1967, in Nasarawa State, holds multiple academic qualifications and joined NSCDC in 1996, rising to Commandant in 2007 before leading the agency at the National Headquarters. His renewed mandate begins March 2, 2026.
