President Bola Tinubu marked his administration's third anniversary on May 29, 2026, acknowledging Nigeria is 'passing through a test' but expressing confidence the country will emerge 'stronger, fairer, more united, and more prosperous than ever before.'

The President detailed challenges inherited including fiscal pressures, unsustainable fuel subsidies (costing N18.4bn daily at peak), multiple exchange rate windows that cost Nigeria N8tn over three years, and rising debt-servicing obligations. Tinubu defended economic reforms as necessary to prevent economic collapse, stating 'leadership demands courage, especially when the right decisions are difficult.'

Acknowledging Nigerians are experiencing hardship from rising cost of living, the President highlighted improvements: stock market growth (All Share Index from 53,000 to 250,000), over 2,700km of highways under construction, $5bn in fresh oil & gas investments, education loans for 1.5 million students, and 10,000 housing units across 14 states.

Security operations have intensified against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and oil thieves, with many communities becoming safer, Tinubu stated. 'While challenges remain, many communities and highways are becoming more economically active,' he said.

The administration admitted not all goals have been achieved but insisted the foundation for recovery has been laid. 'The task before us now is clear: we must ensure the benefits of reform are felt directly in daily lives of ordinary Nigerians.'

As a Nigerian experiencing these economic reforms, do you believe the current hardship is a necessary sacrifice for long-term prosperity, or should the government prioritize immediate relief even if it delays recovery?
