Tinubu nominates Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as CBN Deputy Governor

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), subject to Senate confirmation. The nomination, announced Wednesday, aligns with Section 8(1) of the CBN Act 2007 empowering the President to appoint deputy governors. Yuguda, former Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and IMF economist, brings extensive financial expertise to the role. He served as CBN Director of Reserve Management before retiring in 2016. The Senate confirmation process will determine the next steps for Nigeria's economic leadership.
