Tinubu nominates Oyedele as Nigeria's new Finance Minister
President Tinubu has nominated economist Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria's Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite. Uzoka-Anite will now serve as Minister of State for Budget and National Planning. Oyedele, a former chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, is credited with overhauling Nigeria's tax system. He holds a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University and spent 22 years at PwC. The nomination was conveyed to the Senate for confirmation on March 3, 2026.
