Tinubu nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria's minister of state for finance
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria's minister of state for finance, replacing Doris Anite-Uzoka. Mrs Anite-Uzoka will now move to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, her third portfolio in the administration. The nomination was conveyed to the Senate for confirmation in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Until his nomination, Mr Oyedele was chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which overhauled Nigeria's tax system. Mr Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert with a Higher National Diploma in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology, a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and executive education from institutions including LSE, Yale, and Harvard. He spent 22 years at PwC, rising to Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader, and is a professor at Babcock University and visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
