President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's security architecture during a Bayelsa visit Friday, pledging sustained investment in the armed forces to combat terrorism and banditry. "We will work hard. We will continue to equip and train our men and women of the armed forces. We will defeat terrorism and banditry," he stated amid renewed security concerns.

The President's remarks follow a deadly attack on a military formation in Benisheikh Thursday, where soldiers were killed in a coordinated assault by insurgents under Operation HADIN KAI. Tinubu called for a moment of silence for fallen soldiers, acknowledging sacrifices including former Bayelsa governor DSP Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

Nigeria faces increased security threats with banditry, insurgency, kidnappings, and communal clashes across Plateau, Benue, Yobe, and Kaduna states. The US recently issued travel advisories and reduced staff in Abuja, though the government insists this is standard precaution. With military offensives intensifying, citizens in conflict zones should remain vigilant while the administration focuses on both security and infrastructure development initiatives nationwide.
