Lagos-listed Transcorp Corporation is doubling its dividend payout to shareholders for 2025, following a 44.4% surge in net profit to a record N135.9 billion. The conglomerate - parent to Transcorp Power and Transcorp Hotels - proposed a final dividend of N1.60 per share, having already paid N0.40 as interim, bringing total payout to N2 per share (up from N1 in 2024).

The company plans to distribute N20.3 billion total to shareholders, pending approval at its annual general meeting. Dividends will be paid electronically on Friday, May 8, 2026, to shareholders whose names appear on the Register of Members as of Monday, April 27, 2026.

Transcorp's performance was driven by power subsidiary Transcorp Power, which contributed N337.8 billion to revenue - 117.2% higher than the previous year. Total assets climbed to N1 trillion from N751.6 billion, while return on equity stood at 38.5% (down slightly from 40.8%). With dividend yields doubling, will this make Transcorp more attractive to income-focused investors compared to other Nigerian blue chips?
