US President Donald Trump expressed surprise Friday that Iran has the capability to launch missiles 2,700 miles, highlighting concerns about Tehran's growing missile arsenal. "The United States was unaware Iran had the capability to launch a missile 2,700 miles," Trump stated. Iran has developed missiles including the Khorramshahr and Sejjil models with ranges of approximately 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) and the Soumar cruise missile with up to 3,000 kilometers (1,860 miles) range. US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum revealed that Iran could potentially hit Washington DC and major US cities with intermediate-range ballistic missiles through proxies in Venezuela. Iran's missile capabilities remain debated among experts, with some suggesting Tehran's claims of targeting US bases are exaggerated while others warn the advancements pose significant regional and global security threats. Iran's missile development has been ongoing for years, with the latest capability revelation indicating more advanced technology than previously acknowledged by US intelligence.
