Trump imposes new tariffs despite Supreme Court ruling
US President Donald Trump announced Sunday he will impose duties on imports through alternative measures after the Supreme Court struck down his global tariffs. Trump declared on Truth Social he has the "absolute right" to charge tariffs in another form and has already begun implementing them. The move follows Washington's launch of new trade probes into 60 economies including China, the EU, and Japan, investigating "failures to take action on forced labor" and trade barriers. Trump criticized the Supreme Court for potentially "giving away Trillions of Dollars to Countries and Companies who have been taking advantage of the United States for decades." His comments came hours after Beijing urged Washington to "immediately correct its erroneous ways" as both countries began new trade negotiations. The President also attacked federal judge James Boasberg for quashing subpoenas in a probe into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell over bank headquarters renovations, calling the ruling "completely inept and embarrassing."
