United Bank for Africa (UBA) has unveiled the ANPA-UBA Diaspora Healthcare Investment Platform to mobilize capital from Nigerians abroad for hospitals and medical infrastructure development in Nigeria. The initiative was announced at the 2026 ANPA Carolinas Symposium in Charlotte, North Carolina, where 170+ physicians and healthcare professionals gathered.

UBA's Head of Diaspora Banking, Anant Rao, launched the platform designed to finance specialist hospitals, diagnostic centers, telemedicine infrastructure, and medical training institutions across Nigeria. The bank will serve as custodian and structuring bank, while United Capital Asset Management (which manages over N1.2 trillion in assets) will act as fund manager.

The initiative includes proposed partnerships with ANPA chapters for preferred banking services, financial education, a healthcare infrastructure fund, wealth management solutions, family healthcare plans through Avon HMO, and co-matching contributions to the Pearl Endowment Fund. This expands UBA's existing diaspora offerings including non-resident Nigerian accounts, fixed-income investments, elder-care trust solutions, and private wealth management services.

If you're a Nigerian professional abroad with capital for investment, does this healthcare platform offer better returns than traditional diaspora remittances while supporting Nigeria's medical infrastructure development?
