UEFA launches debut patches for first-time UCL players in 2026/27 season
UEFA introduces special "debut patches" for players making their first Champions League appearance during the 2026/27 season, developed through a new partnership with Fanatics. The small patches will be worn on jersey sleeves and feature the word "debut" integrated into UCL's iconic starball logo. After each match, the patch is removed from the jersey and sent to Topps (the trading card company owned by Fanatics) to be authenticated before being incorporated into a unique, player-signed trading card. Players who come on as substitutes and make their first appearance qualify for the patch, but those named in a matchday squad who remain unused substitutes must wait until they actually play in a game to receive it. This initiative creates official memorabilia recognizing milestone moments while giving fans authenticated collectibles tied directly to players' UCL debuts.
