UK electricity cheaper than Nigeria, expert says

This comes as the Federal Government plans to share electricity subsidy costs with states and local governments from 2026, shifting from the current arrangement where the Federal Government bears most costs. Agule noted states now have responsibility to create electricity markets per the 2022 Electricity Act and should contribute to subsidy discussions. He criticized the government for addressing symptoms like accumulated debts instead of root causes, questioning why telecom services are subsidized while electricity remains expensive.
