UK reviews immigration system to attract foreign talent

The UK is launching a review of its immigration system's talent routes to attract more foreign skilled workers. Professor Brian Bell, chair of the Migration Advisory Committee, announced the review will assess how well the Global Talent Visa and Skilled Worker routes enable highly skilled individuals to enter the UK. The study will examine migrant contributions, policy design for identifying global talent, and interactions between visa routes. Results are expected by winter 2026 to inform policy changes. This follows China's new K visa program and US H-1B fee changes, highlighting global competition for talent. The review aims to strengthen the UK's position in attracting STEM professionals and skilled workers.
