Umahi to sue Ohiri over N280m campaign debt claim
Minister of Works David Umahi has directed his legal team to proceed with court action against Tracy Ohiri over allegations he owes her N280 million in campaign materials. Ohiri initially claimed Umahi owed her the sum during his tenure as party chairman, broadcasting the allegation on social media where it went viral. She was arrested and prosecuted but later withdrew the claims after her lawyer intervened and issued a public apology. Days later, Ohiri resumed her allegations. Umahi's spokesperson clarified that his lawyer acted in good faith and did not negotiate any payment. Umahi now demands Ohahi provide verifiable evidence including communications from the period to substantiate her claims. If she fails to produce evidence, Umahi's legal team will proceed with court processes to establish the truth. The Minister emphasized he remains focused on his duties despite the allegations.
