Unilever Nigeria appoints Femi-Okunbanjo as Executive Director effective June 30
Unilever Nigeria Plc has appointed Mrs. Modupe Femi-Okunbanjo as an Executive Director, effective June 30, 2026, following the resignation of Ibrahim Sodipe from the Board. The appointment, approved by the Board and disclosed to the Nigerian Exchange Limited on June 29, 2026, sees Femi-Okunbanjo transition from her current role as Financial Controller, Nigeria and Regional Controls Lead for West Africa.
Her appointment comes as Unilever Nigeria reports strong financial performance, with pre-tax profit of N51.7 billion for the year ended December 31, 2025—a 128.4% year-on-year increase—and revenue rising to N214.3 billion, driven primarily by domestic sales (98.8% of total). Femi-Okunbanjo brings over 15 years of experience in finance, governance, and risk management across FMCG and telecommunications sectors, including prior roles at UAC Nigeria, Helios Towers Nigeria, and Makasa Sun Nigeria Limited. She is a Fellow of ICAN and CIMA member, holding a BSc in Accounting from LASU and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School.
The Board highlighted her contributions to strengthening ethical leadership, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and improving organisational resilience—factors expected to support Unilever Nigeria's governance and financial leadership as it pursues long-term growth strategy. With domestic sales remaining the primary growth driver, her expertise in financial controls and risk management could prove vital in navigating economic fluctuations.
Given her focus on financial governance and data-driven strategies, how might this leadership change influence Unilever Nigeria's approach to economic challenges and investment decisions in the current market?
