US and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire Tuesday, barely before Trump's deadline for "devastating strikes" on Iranian infrastructure. The Pakistan-brokered deal ends temporarily a war that began February 28 after US-Israeli strikes triggered Iranian retaliation.

The critical development: Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most vital oil and gas transit routes that Iran had blockaded since hostilities began. Trump had warned "a whole civilisation will die tonight" if Iran didn't comply with demands.

Commercial implications are massive: approximately 133 million barrels of crude oil and 46 million barrels of refined fuels stranded on 200 tankers can now reach global markets. This directly affects global oil prices that impact Nigeria's oil-dependent economy.

Iran's 10-point peace plan includes lifting sanctions, continued control over the strait, and Iran-Oman charging $2 million per vessel transit fee. Pakistan's PM Shehbaz Sharif played central role in securing the ceasefire and has invited both sides to meet in Islamabad Friday.

With global energy markets watching closely, will this two-week window lead to lasting peace or just temporary relief for global oil prices?
