US Soy leaders said at the USSEC & US Soy Nigeria: Now Conference in late June 2026 that collaboration, not competition, with local farmers can help close Nigeria's animal-protein gap. They pointed to Nigeria's large population and rising demand, noting that the country imported 62,000 tons of US soybeans in early 2025 after a six-year break. US Soy offers high digestible amino acids and energy value, which can lower feed costs while maintaining livestock performance. Through its Soy Excellence Centre, the group has provided free virtual training to over 1,200 Nigerians this year and more than 5,000 total since launch. Graduates report improved biosecurity, lower bird mortality, and feed mills seeing 15‑20% higher pellet output with 10% lower costs; 94% say they gained stronger job skills and 93% say their companies are more profitable. Challenges remain, including financing and ensuring consistent quality across the value chain, but officials say long‑term partnership aims to deliver more affordable, quality protein to Nigerian tables.
