Utomi slams APC for SUV giveaway while soldiers earn peanuts

APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel shared a video Monday showing 2026 Toyota Prado SUVs handed to selected youth leaders for 2027 election mobilization. Prof Pat Utomi, NDC chieftain, tore into the move on X, alleging each SUV costs over ₦100 million.

Utomi called it "troubling" that the party is flaunting billions in vehicles while Nigerian soldiers collect what he described as peanuts for salaries — this from a government that told citizens the treasury was empty. "At this point, they must think we are fools," he wrote.

Israel said the SUVs provide logistical support for youth leaders tasked with voter mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections. Utomi countered that the same money could fund well-equipped ambulances to fix Nigeria's emergency medical services.

The criticism lands as parties begin early positioning for 2027. APC's youth wing gets mobility; soldiers and healthcare wait. When election logistics get funded before frontline welfare, the priority signal is clear.
