Viral video shows boys in JIBWIS uniforms chanting threats against Christians
A viral video circulating on Facebook and X captures an unidentified man leading a group of boys dressed in JIBWIS First Aid Group ('Yan Agaji) uniforms through an unpaved street, chanting in Hausa for assault rifles to attack Christians. "Give me an AK-47 so that I will go to Enugu and kill non-Muslims on Sunday while they are praying. Give me guns so I will go to Jos and kill more infidels," the man chants, with the children repeating after him.
The footage has sparked widespread condemnation across religious and ethnic lines, amplifying fears over child indoctrination, rising religious intolerance, and threats to national unity. Social media users have called for urgent investigation, reform of Islamiyya schools, and accountability for those radicalising children. One commentator warned: "These small children are openly being groomed in religious extremism and Boko Haram ideology."
It remains unconfirmed whether the participants are officially registered JIBWIS members or if the display was sanctioned by the organisation's leadership. The recording location and identities of those involved have not been independently verified. As of filing, neither security agencies nor JIBWIS national leadership have issued an official statement.
