Visa has rolled out an enhanced version of its A2A Protect service, adding a unified fraud score that combines its own network data with Featurespace’s AI technology. The new score helps banks detect account‑to‑account fraud earlier and cuts unnecessary alerts by over 40%, while reducing fraud losses by more than 50%. The launch comes as A2A payments are projected to exceed ₦4.7 quadrillion globally by 2028, a 160% rise from 2024 levels, increasing the attack surface for fraudsters in fast‑growing markets like Nigeria.

Financial institutions that opt in receive real‑time risk insights through a single API, without waiting for their own data models to mature or for consortium partners to join. Each alert includes a plain‑language explanation, allowing fraud teams to act quickly and avoid blocking legitimate transactions. Visa says the solution also flags emerging scam hotspots and coordinated fraud activity when banks share network‑level intelligence.

For Nigerian banks and fintechs handling rising volumes of instant transfers, the tool offers a way to strengthen security without adding friction for customers. Implementation is immediate, and pricing details have not been disclosed. Institutions interested can contact Visa via press@visa.com for more information.

Will adopting this unified fraud score give your bank the edge to stop fraud faster while keeping genuine payments flowing?
