Wike faction extends PDP reconciliation invitation to Turaki group, which refuses to attend
The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended an invitation to the Taminu Turaki-led faction for reconciliation, aiming to unify the party. National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed stated this during an interview on Arise Television's 'Prime Time' on Monday. Despite the invitation, the Turaki group has not responded, with no reason provided for their absence. The PDP has faced internal divisions, with two factions emerging recently. Mohammed noted that reconciliation efforts continued even before the Court of Appeal Ibadan's advisory, with invitations extended to the Turaki group to form a single, formidable party. However, the Turaki group's refusal persists. Time constraints are critical due to the new Electoral Act and INEC's timetable, limiting opportunities for party restructuring. The Wike faction believes forging ahead with plans for aspiring members to contest elections is essential, but reconciliation remains open only if the Turaki group engages.
