Wikeasserts PDP control, rejects new caretaker committee
Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike declared PDP's current caretaker committee remains in charge after court rulings nullified the November 2025 convention. Wike stated his camp will only negotiate as a dominant force, challenging rivals to present concrete proposals during reconciliation talks. He dismissed accusations of being a "mole" within PDP due to his APC role, noting his rivals are now in APC. Wike firmly rejected forming a new caretaker committee for the upcoming March 29-30 convention, emphasizing finalized logistics. Senate Minority leader Abba Moro pleaded for a middle ground, revealing meetings with faction leader Tanimu Turaki. PDP National Assembly caucus leader Kingsley Chinda hailed the court judgment as a lifeline for party unity, predicting member defections. Imo State PDP chairman Austin Nwachukwu supported the current trajectory and urged party modernization. Prominent figures including former governors Ortom and Ikpeazu attended the meeting.
