X (formerly Twitter) became available again in Venezuela on Tuesday, over a year after former president Nicolás Maduro blocked the platform in August 2024. The ban followed disputed 2024 elections and political tensions that cut off government officials from using X for public communication.

Interim leader Delcy Rodríguez—who took power after Maduro's capture by US forces on January 3—restored access and updated her X profile with a unity message. Rodríguez served as vice president under Maduro and now faces drug trafficking charges alongside her husband in US courts.

Access remains uneven nationwide as connectivity resumes. Before the 2024 suspension, X was essential for Venezuelan political discourse and civic engagement. Its return restores a key channel for institutional announcements and public dialogue during the country's political transition.

This shift coincides with broader changes following Maduro's detention, as Venezuela navigates new leadership and attempts to stabilize after years of political crisis. Will the restored platform help rebuild civic space or become another battleground in the country's ongoing political struggles?
