At Africa CEO Forum in Kigali on May 15 2025, Yango Group Chief Business Officer Adeniyi Adebayo outlined the company's expansion from six founders in 2018 to 35 markets, 340 million rides, 500k drivers, and over 70 product lines. Three days later Yango formally launched Yango Tech, a B2B/B2G arm offering AI consulting, smart-city infrastructure, health-digitisation and financial-services platforms across Africa.

Yango's strategy treats cities, not countries, as growth engines—using Abidjan's outsized GDP share to argue that city dwellers behave like Dubai residents, not rural compatriots. By first securing profitable 'beachhead' cities, the firm subsidises expansion to secondary towns, a model it proved in Bouake, Cote d'Ivoire, where early patience turned the city into a top performer. This city-first lens also guides its perception-arbitrage approach, entering markets like Ethiopia and Venezuela before global hype, and its regulatory co-creation model, exemplified by Cote d'Ivoire's ride-hailing tax framework that drivers now see as a benefit.

Yango Tech leverages eight years and over $150 million invested in proprietary mapping, routing, data-centre (Serbia) and payment tools, already deploying in Mozambique and South Africa for mobility, health and e-commerce projects. With Africa's mobile-sector contribution projected to reach $270 billion by 2030 and generative AI potentially unlocking $61-103 billion annually, the company bets that its ground-level data, regulatory know-how and city-centric execution can capture a share of the B2B tech boom—though it will face global cloud providers, regional fintechs and local enterprise software rivals. Watch for Yango Tech's pilot projects in your city and consider how city-focused tech solutions could affect local businesses or public services.
